That's what $500 million gets you

That's the what the $500 million donation was for... at least we got something out of it, now let's see after Rita, and another $500 million, we might get a permenant seat in the UN Security Council.

Small Calculation

Donations = $500,000,000.00 worth of oil products
Assumed Oil Price for kuwaiti Oil = 65 $/BBL
Equivelant Barrels = 7,692,308 BBL
Worth of Kuwaiti Oil Production Days = 3 Days

I'm for donations, but sensible ones which the public can digest.

Worrying thing

I've been away for almost 3 years now, visiting Kuwait almost 2 months a year. For all that time The Prices of DSL internet access in Kuwait haven't drop an inch!!!! Last time I was around FastTelco were having a campaign for a subscription of around 300 KD for a year of 256K access!!! Absurd

In the UK now, 512K access is OBSELETE... lowest broadband access now is 1MB for around £18 (9KD/month), actually my broadband access is up to 8MB (with an average access speed of 5MB) costs £30/month (15KD)!!!!!

I think we are being robbed in Kuwait, the problem that there is no mention about it, even though we have to main ISPs but I believe they've been trying to maintain the high prices for their benefit.. shouldn't competition drive the prices down!!?? I believe now it's the role of the government and the national assembly to intervene to take Kuwait into the new digital age!! It is unbelievable that still in Kuwait people using Dial-up!!!

I would suggest an awareness campaign and get some influential people, Thinkers, Politicians, Acedemics to pressure the concerned parties to get their act together and be reasonable.

Looking forward to your opinions

Serious Blogging will start soon (once I get addicted to it) ;-)
